From educational activities tosporting events, and free concerts to festivals, no one could be bored in Gwinnett! But, with so many great things going on, you may have missed a few of the highlights. With that in mind, we”ve been gearing up for our annual 101 Things You Gotta Do issue – a Gwinnett Magazine exclusive, featuring enjoyable activities in and around our community, including many best-kept secrets. With so many fun things happening, you”ll want to keep our guide handy all year long!

  1. Watch your kids squeal with delight as they splash around in one of Gwinnett”s fountains at Suwanee Town Center, downtown Duluth or the Mall of Georgia.
     
  2. Check out an outdoor concert on the town green in Duluth, Suwanee, Sugar Hill, Norcross or Lilburn. You just can”t beat free summertime fun!
     
  3. Plan a picnic at one of Gwinnett”s public parks. Also, the county”s recreation department offers low-cost activities for all ages. www.gwinnettparks.com
     
  4. Jam out to some bluegrass tunes at the Everett Brothers Music Barn in Suwanee. www.everettbrothers.com
     
  5. Write it down! The Pickneyville Writers” group meets at the Pickneyville Community Center. Another daytime group meets at the Centerville Community Center. www.gwinnettparks.com
     
  6. Get artistic! The Pinckneyville Community Center hosts art exhibits at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse and Pinckneyville Community Center. www.gwinnettparks.com
     
  7. Attend a small town festival – Lilburn Daze (Oct. 11), the Duluth Fall Festival (Sept. 26-28), Snellville Days (May 3-4) and Suwanee Day (Sept. 20) are always a blast.
     
  8. View a free, family-friendly flick in downtown Duluth, Sugar Hill, Suwanee or Norcross. Keep a look out this summer – as outdoor fun keeps popping up in local parks, downtown squares and places like the Mall of Georgia. Don”t forget to pack some snacks!

  10. Feed the need for speed as you watch regional, national and international cyclists in action at the annual Gwinnett Bike Fest. Last year, more than 500 cyclists from 11 states competed in the event. This year”s event is said to be even bigger (July 24-27). www.gcvb.org/bikefest
     
  11. The Gwinnett Braves will be here in 2009. Get ready by ordering a Gwinnett Braves hat, place a deposit for season tickets or check out the rendering of the new stadium! www.gwinnettbraves.com
