Beds are Not Just for Sleeping!

On April 16, Family Promise of Gwinnett County will host their 2nd Annual Bed Race at the downtown Historic Courthouse Square with food, inflatables and face painting. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the bed race beginning at 11:30 a.m.

David Chandley of WSB-TV2 will serve as the Grand Marshall for the parade and announcer for the race. In teams of five, participants will transform their bed into a racing vehicle and race their vehicle around the square. Awards will be given to the fastest, funniest and most original bed, along with a merit award for fundraising.

Admission is free to spectators and there is $100 entry fee for each team participating in the race. The deadline to enter is March 31.

The day”s events will conclude with an evening gala, Fanatic Fan Fundraiser, at the Gwinnett Place Marriott. The Master of Ceremonies will be former director of sports from WSB-TV2, Chuck Dowdle. There will also be additional sports figures from the Atlanta area on-hand at the event. The Sounds of Motown will provide the tunes for each attendee”s enjoyment.

All the proceeds for this event go to Family Promise of Gwinnett County. As one of 161 affiliates in the United States, Family Promise of Gwinnett County assists homeless children and their families find affordable housing and employment.
