Feel the wind in your hair and the tug on your line. It#s time for a visit to Lake Sidney Lanier for boating, fishing, golfing and more. The 38,000-acre, man-made lake is the perfect location for a springtime sporting adventure.

For the boating enthusiast, Lake Lanier welcomes boat owners to set sail at one of its marinas. But if you don#t have your own, boat rentals are also available. Pontoon, deck and ski boats can be rented with hourly rates as well as half-day and full day rates. Consider calling Lanier Aqua Rentals at 770-967-1804 for some fun in the sun.

The fisherman (or fisherwoman) in the family can also have a fulfilling fishing trip at the lake. Largemouth and striped bass, bluegill and rainbow trout have been stocked in the lake at various times. However, many other varieties of fish also live in the lake naturally. Spotted bass, catfish and redbreast sunfish can be found, and carp over 20 pounds have been landed at Lake Lanier. Venture out on your own, or contact a guide service like Lake Lanier Outfitters at 770-503-4143 or www.lakelanieroutiffers.com.

Skiers, wave runners and other water sports are welcome on the lake, but there are plenty of opportunities for landlubbers as well.

An equestrian center allows visitors to explore the island on horseback. Trail rides are offered each day and pony rides are available for children 6 and under. Call 770-932-7233 for more information.

Great golfing can also be found around the lake. The Emerald Pointe Golf Club features 13 holes on the water and has been called #the Pebble Beach of the Southeast# by Golf Digest. The Renaissance PineIsle Resort Golf Club has eight holes on the water and great scenery.

For the outdoor sportsman, Lake Lanier is an incredible option that#s right around the corner. Call 800-840-5253 for more information.
