From children”s entertainment to adult comedy sketches, Aurora Theatre has something for everyone during the month of August.
Some of the best children”s performers in the region will visit Gwinnett County during the series, “Aurora Children”s Playhouse,” kicking off at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 with “Fables Fantastiques!”
Atlanta”s unique French-language theatre company opens the season with an “exciting adaptation” of fables from Aesop, La Fontaine and West Africa.
At 10 a.m. Aug. 24, Atlanta storyteller Hot Diggity Doug entertains children with classic and popular tales.
After “an impressive debut” at Aurora Theatre this summer, Big Thinkers Science Exploration will return at 10 a.m. Aug. 31 with “Freeze Frame.” Audiences will discover what dry ice is and how it behaves; create plumes of foggy carbon dioxide and more.
Kids will also get to explore the effects of carbonation with the Big Thinkers Soda Pop.
According to its website, Aurora Children”s Playhouse features puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians “intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experience.”
From the other side of the spectrum, the theatre will host “Aurora Comedy Nights” at 7:15 and 9:15 p.m. Aug. 16-17.
Comedians Matt Mitchell, Jamie Bendall, James “JB” Blackwell and Kevin Mason will entertain.
