Create Change with a Pop of Color – Come to Ridge Run!

Now in its sixth year, Peachtree Ridge High School’s Ridge Run has cemented itself as a community tradition. Every October, hundreds of people across the Gwinnett area gather around the school for a day of festivities, excitement and charity. Together, they run over three miles around the school campus, united by the colorful powder splashed across their matching shirts.

Ridge Run is a 5K color run open to runners of all ages. Runners aren’t required to run – they just have to have a desire to join in and an appreciation of the crisp fall air.

The event is led entirely by students, but the whole community gets involved. The student council, leadership teams and school service clubs join forces to encourage runner registration, gain volunteers and plan the event. Local businesses in the community sponsor the event, and many community members make personal donations. Over the past five years, the event has raised over $70,600 from donations, sponsorships and runner registration, all of which goes to funding cancer research.

If you’d like to be a part of a community-wide effort to contribute to a greater cause, it’s still not too late to join in on Ridge Run! This year’s run will be held at 9 A.M. on Oct. 20 and the theme is “Pop of Color.”

Visit ridgerun.weebly.com to register. The entry fee to participate in the 5K run is just $25, and participating in the shorter, one-mile fun run costs $20. Your contribution will provide not only a free t-shirt and race bag for you, but also a little assistance in the battle to end cancer once and for all.
