Wesleyan Artist MarketKick off the spring 2013 art festival season with the Wesleyan Artist Market. Held on Thursday, May 2 (today) through Saturday, May 4, this much-anticipated market, now in its 15th year, offers patrons the opportunity to purchase original works of art from over 75 artists from all over the Southeast.

The artist market is open to the public each day and starts on Thursday evening with its Opening Night Celebration (May 2). Wesleyan students, faculty and alumni will be performing for everyone to enjoy while art lovers pursue the vast selections of original pieces of art while tasting a delicious array of desserts. The Children”s Market will take place at peek hours on both Friday afternoon and again on Saturday. This is free for the kids and offers fun activities such as face painting, arts and crafts, temporary tattoos, crazy hair, and much more.

The Wesleyan Artist Market will also unveil two new features this year. After the overwhelming success of the Student Artist Market last year, the market is increasing the number of student artists that will sell their wares at the show. These budding new artists are selected from Wesleyan”s Middle and High School students and are wildly popular amongst the younger shoppers. The market is also expanding the Home and Gift Market, which will include many more items for home d##cor and gift giving.

Artists from various mediums will be represented at the market in such categories as oil paintings, acrylic paintings, watercolor, ceramics, photography, mixed media, pottery, wood, floral, textiles and much more. There is something for everyone”s price point with artwork ranging from under five dollars to several thousand dollars.

Twenty five percent of each purchase is tax deductible and goes to support the Fine Arts Programs at Wesleyan School. Wesleyan School is an independent co-educational school serving kindergarten through twelfth grade. The school is located at 5405 Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corner.
