Vulcan Materials teamed up with the Gwinnett Village Community Improvement District to raise $10,000 to benefit students in the Meadowcreek Cluster. The money—earmarked for Meadowcreek High School, Radloff Middle School, and Meadowcreek Elementary— was raised through the first annual Quarry Crusher Run held at the Beaver Ruin Road quarry in Gwinnett. More than 670 runners, including many GCPS students and teachers, tested their endurance by participating in the race which took runners to the bottom and then back to the top of the quarry. The grueling 7.4 mile course featured grades of over 10 percent for over a mile at some points.

“This was a great event for our community and a great way to support schools in the Meadowcreek Cluster,” expressed Jimmy Fleming, Vulcan SE Division Vice President of Human Resources. Vulcan has long been a partner with schools in the area and this is just one more example of how the company gives back to the community.

Representatives from Vulcan Materials and the Gwinnett Village CID, as well as race organizers, took part in the Board of Education’s July meeting, presenting the check to members of the School Board and leaders of the recipient schools.
