When it comes to sports in Gwinnett, you don’t have to drive far. Gwinnett Center has hosted many regional and national events including the USA Region 3 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships, the SEC Women’s Basketball Championship and the Georgia High School Wrestling and Basketball Championships. This year, the 2008 SEC Women’s Gymnastics Championships will be held at Gwinnett Center. In addition to a number of sporting events, Gwinnett also has an array of professional sports teams with strong fan followings.

The Atlanta Vision
The Atlanta Vision, a semi-pro basketball team in Gwinnett, is an official member of the American Basketball Association. The team was the 2005-2006 ABA Division Champions. The Atlanta Vision is committed to the community through outreach, education, health awareness and excellence in sports entertainment.

The Atlanta Silverbacks
The Atlanta Silverbacks is a professional soccer club that plays in the United Soccer League. They are dedicated to creating an environment that encourages men, women, amateurs, professionals, youth and adults to come together for the good of the game.

Georgia Force
The Georgia Force returns to Gwinnett this season. They are an Arena Football League team that plays in the Southern Division of the National Conference. They are owned by Arthur M. Blank. The team has played in the past at the Phillips Arena and in Gwinnett. The team announced they were moving back to Gwinnett late last year.

Gwinnett Braves
The Atlanta Braves Triple-A team will move from Richmond, Virginia to Gwinnett beginning in 2009. The ballpark will be located at 2500 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville.

Gwinnett Gladiators
The Gwinnett Gladiators are a minor league ice hockey team in Gwinnett. They play at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Gladiators, the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers, have been thrilling hockey fans at the Gwinnett Arena for more than five years.
