Glancy Rehabilitation Center Celebrates Restoration through Rehabilitation

Gwinnett Medical Center”s (GMC) Glancy Rehabilitation Center will celebrate the significant benefits and impact of rehabilitation during National Rehabilitation Week, September 18-24. The center”s program was founded in 1988 and is accredited from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities Center (CARF), which is the highest level of accreditation.# Glancy Rehabilitation Center is also designated as a Stroke Specialty Program.

“Each day we celebrate patients” successes, both big and small, as part of our personalized approach to treatment,”# said Mona Lippett, director of GMC”s Glancy Rehabilitation Center. “Through this national recognition, we are able to publicly share that caring approach that can greatly impact life and educate them on best practices in emergency situations, avoiding brain injury and stroke signs and risks.”#

As part of the celebration, the public is invited to join in the following events at Glancy Rehabilitation Center (located at 3215 McClure Bridge Road in Duluth, Ga.):

Monday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m.

  • Mayor Nancy Harris awarded a proclamation in recognition of National Rehabilitation Week

 

Wednesday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

  • Children”s Pony Show, provided by Special Equestrians, a team that uses horses for patient rehabilitation
  • Kids R Kids, an event featuring Pro Care ambulance and facility tours and tips on what to do during a health emergency, for example, how to call 911

Thursday, Sept. 22, 9 a.m. – 12 noon

  • Antique Car Show

Glancy Rehabilitation Center, featuring a therapy gym that covers over 4,000 square feet, provides inpatient and outpatient services, free injury prevention programs, screenings and support services. Many of the team members are certified and cover a range of services including respiratory, speech, recreational, physical and occupational therapies as well as 24 hour nursing.# The center houses leading equipment that help patients regain mobility, independence, confidence and quality of life when used in combination with staff specialization.
