Gwinnett County Parks

With the arrival of cooler weather, it’s a great time to get out and enjoy Gwinnett County’s outstanding parks. There’s truly something for everyone.

Runners, walkers, hikers, equestrians, and mountain bikers can all find a suitable route among 128 miles of trails. History buffs can check out our historic and cultural sites. Skateboarders can show off their tricks at one of the skate parks. And dog owners can bring their four-legged friends to socialize with other canines at designated dog park areas.

If organized sports are your thing, Gwinnett’s youth athletic leagues and adult sports will help you get in the game. Or maybe you like tennis, basketball, and volleyball you’ll find many of those courts in our parks, too.

When you’re ready to host your next family reunion or birthday party, consider renting a pavilion or community room. Our playgrounds, open fields, and community recreation centers allow for unstructured playtime, while thousands of classes, events and other programs offered each year provide enrichment for all ages. Abundant social, recreational, and educational opportunities are waiting for older adults at two senior centers one at Bethesda Park Senior Center and another at George Pierce Park.

I could go on and on, but I also want to tell you about recent park improvements. Our newest park opened in September, the 25-acre J.B. Williams Park located at 4935 Five Forks Trickum Road SW. Designed to complement the nearby Lions Club Park, it features a dog park, skate complex, playground, pavilion, and meadow. You’ll also find a baseball/softball field with a lighted walking track and a three-quarter-mile paved trail.

Gwinnett also recently agreed to purchase E.E. Robinson Park from the city of Sugar Hill, with its playgrounds, pavilions, baseball/softball fields, and volleyball courts located on 53 acres at 885 Level Creek Road. Amenities under construction on 66 acres nearby, accessible from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, will add a multipurpose field complex with lighted track, six-court tennis center, playground, meadow, pavilion, interactive fountain, and a nearly mile-long trail.

Improvements are coming to McDaniel Farm Park in the form of a new entrance from Duluth Highway, open play area, new picnic pavilion, farm-themed playground, a dog park, trail extension, restroom building and parking. And George Pierce Park Community Recreation Center is getting a new gymnasium.

SPLOST has funded many of our park acquisitions and capital improvements over the last two decades, allowing us to build a national award-winning park system.

I hope you get many opportunities to enjoy the fall season in our beautiful Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation facilities.
