Join your friends and neighbors on Saturday, May 26 for a celebration of World Turtle Day at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center (GEHC) from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
World Turtle Day was created to bring attention to and increase knowledge of and respect for turtles and tortoises and encourage human action to help them survive and thrive. Of the 56 species of turtles found in the continental United States, 42 live among us here in the Southeast.
“This will be a great opportunity to meet your shelled, reptile neighbors from around the corner and from around the world,”# said Jason West, GEHC director of educational programming and development.
In addition to meeting live turtles, there will be special turtle crafts and activities. Some of the largest species of tortoises in the world will be visiting the GEHC on this special day.
This program is included with admission to the GEHC.# As always, GEHC members are admitted free.# For admission pricing and additional information, please visit www.gwinnettEHC.org.
