Gwinnett Medical Center Hosts Paint Georgia Pink, an Inaugural 5K Walk

GMC will host the first-time event in Gwinnett County to benefit the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation on Saturday, October 1 at Gwinnett Braves Coolray Field.

The walk starts at 8:00 a.m. Funds from this event will be specifically designated for use by GMCs breast cancer patients.

In 2014, GMC’s Center for Cancer Care saw 1,541 newly diagnosed cancer patients; approximately 350 of those were breast cancer patients. Some of those patients relied on access provided through GMC Foundation funding. Proceeds from Paint Georgia Pink will benefit the hospital system’s foundation in an effort to increase community support.

Paint Georgia Pink will feature many activities at Coolray Field. The inflatable walk-through breast cancer exhibit will graphically illustrate the implications of cancer. Food trucks and activities for children like a petting zoo, face painting and a stuffed animal workshop will be on-hand. There will also be an exhibition softball game featuring Brian Jordan, former Atlanta Braves player and community leaders.

The GMC Foundation, incorporated in 1990 (fiscal year), supports Gwinnett Medical Center by funding programs, services and capital expansion projects through charitable contributions. As a private not-for-profit 501(c)(3), the Foundation enables people to give to strengthen GMC’s hospital system.
