Heroes Project Update: Nora Spencer

“I can say that this is a journey that I never would have chosen for myself, but since I didn”t choose this journey – God did for me, I take this as my testimony,” Nora Spencer recalls her road to recovery from breast cancer, which she first discovered in 2004.

Our 2008 Hero continues to put God first in her life and thanks Him every day; “It has been seven years since the doctor told me “you have breast cancer.” I thank God I am still here,” Nora said. Working full-time at SunTrust Bank, Nora takes chemo every Thursday and Friday, which unfortunately made her loose her hair. “Chemo may have taken my hair, but not my soul,” she says. Also, for the last four years, she has been taking prescription medication.

The advice she gives to those that are currently battling cancer is to put God first. “Have faith and don”t give up the fight. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but peace, love and a sound mind,” she continues. “Give thanks for the little things in life each day and thank God that you are here.”
