Hold Your Own Art Show

If you're an artist and think you have what it takes to put together a gallery show, you could hold it at Gallery 150.

While getting exhibition space at an art gallery can be difficult for some budding artists, Gallery 150, a gallery on W. Main Street in Buford, rents space out for a fee. Hopeful artists can send in a bio and art samples and, if selected, purchase space for a day or a weekend.

Atlanta artists Dennis Primm and Allen Rodgers opened the 1,500-square-foot gallery in August 1999. The partners bought a 100-year-old historic house and renovated the space to accommodate the gallery.

The two hope the gallery will provide an excellent opportunity for local artists to display their work. And, so far, the shows have been successful. The first artists to display at the gallery sold eight paintings during a weekend show, Primm said.

Gallery rental fees are $300 for a one night exhibit and $700 for a weekend show.

The artists display their own work when the gallery is not hosting other exhibits. Allen Rodgers works include oil paintings, egg tempera, acrylic, figurative paintings, landscapes, nudes and commissioned portraits. Dennis Primm”s pieces include metal art, steel furniture, wrought iron, garden sculpture and other types of steel sculpture.
