Your day started at 7:30 a.m. by inking the deal on new office space. Twenty-seven phone calls, four meetings and one soccer practice later, the last thing you want to do is cook dinner. But where can your family enjoy a casual, freshly cooked meal without putting a big dent in your wallet?

Fortunately there#s Johnny Carino#s Country Italian. The third Georgia location of this casual Italian restaurant opened in late November near the entrance to Discover Mills in Lawrenceville. It offers traditional Italian favorites containing bold and hearty sauces, with an emphasis on freshness and affordability.

Feast on standard Italian fare like chicken or eggplant parmigiana, chicken marsala, spaghetti and meat sauce or meatballs and a variety of other pastas with either a red or white sauce. Specialty items include Johnny#s Skilletini, a sizzling skillet with peppers, onions, spaghetti and a choice of meats, and their signature lasagna, with 12 layers of meat and cheese. Appetizer choices encompass favorites such as fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta and fried mozzarella, while salads include standards like a house or Caesar salad or more elaborate offerings such as a chicken, Gorgonzola and sun-dried tomato salad.

The average lunch costs about $6, while dinner entrees are in the $8-12 range. Appetizers average $5, and salads range from $1.50-$7. A children#s menu is available, with all items priced at $3.69. The restaurant offers full bar service, with wines by the bottle or by the glass.

Be sure to inquire about #grandioso# dinner portions that are served family style to feed two or three adults. A limited number of tables for four with private, curtained dining, as well as a curbside carryout program, are available. n
