The law has always been a part of Margaret Washburn”s life. “My father was the Dean of Atlanta Law School for 20 years, my children”s father is an attorney and my oldest child is graduating UGA Law and my younger child is in law school. I enjoy working in the family business.”
Washburn has immersed herself in Gwinnett”s legal community, practicing in Lawrenceville since 1983. She has also served as Chief Judge for the City of Sugar Hill since 1995. “Being a solo practitioner in a community like Gwinnett, you get a unique opportunity to make a difference.”
At her family oriented law firm, she serves her clients in family law, workers” compensation and personal injury, criminal law and litigation and wealth transfer planning cases.
“The cases I take are unique to each person involved. Their lives are affected whether or not they enter the courtroom – it”s personal!” Washburn recalls an instance where she was able to reunite a child in protective custody with her father because of a case she won. “Those are the kinds of personal victories that make me passionate for law.”
