AARF Pet Central, a new community pet center in historic Stone Mountain Village, will open its doors on July 16 at 9:00 a.m. This new facility will offer a full retail store of pet supplies, dog and cat adoptions, dog training, humane education and pet ownership classes, and DIY dog washes.
AARF (Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends), the group that has been renovating the 4,000-square-foot building, has saved homeless pets since 2002, but this new facility will significantly increase the number of pets they are able to help.
APC Grand Opening in May of this year, AARF Pet Central survived a devastating break-in. With an outpouring of community support, AARF was able to get back on track, and limit the delays caused by the burglary. “We are so excited to finally be ready to open our doors. Watching the first shelter cats explore the adoption room will be incredibly emotional for us,” says AARF Director Susan Leisure.
AARF plans to rescue the first group of adoptable cats from the DeKalb County shelter and move them to the new adoption center at AARF Pet Central. Dog training classes will begin immediately, including a full range of basic obedience, Canine Good Citizen and bully breed classes.
