Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Braselton, the state’s newest hospital, will begin construction on a new expansion May 4, 2015, allowing the hospital to begin offering obstetric services to the community.

The $16 million project will be the first for the new hospital, following closely after the recent opening of the facility on April 1. The new space will include 10 labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) rooms, two c-section suites, a nursery and reception and waiting areas and is expected to open by January 2017. Emergency and medical services at NGMC Braselton, as well as physician offices in Medical Plaza B, will remain fully operational throughout the construction of the new facilities.

“We are extremely pleased that we will be able to offer OB services for our community,” says Anthony Williamson, president of NGMC Braselton. “We recognized the need for healthcare services in South Hall County many years ago, and it is exciting to be able to plan for our first expansion so quickly. With the support of our community, physicians, hospital staff and board members, NGMC Braselton will continue to expand its highly regarded franchise known for superb quality and services.”

OB/GYNs and pediatricians on staff at NGMC have provided physician services in this area for many years. “We are excited to see this construction begin and know that soon we will be able to provide inpatient delivery services to our patients in this area closer to home,” says Frank Lake, MD, an OB/GYN with Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Heritage OB/GYN and chief of obstetrics at NGMC.
