Not Your Typical Burger Joint

As unusual as it sounds, this is one of the menu choices at Ted#s Montana Grill located in The Forum shopping center in Norcross. But don#t let this unusual combination scare you off. The other choices are plenty, and the unique appeal of bison alone should draw you to the Grill.

Media mogul Ted Turner has partnered with restaurateur George McKerrow, Jr, who founded Longhorn Steakhouse, to open a chain of Ted#s Montana Grill restaurants throughout the country. The first opened in Columbus, Ohio, and the Norcross restaurant is the second in the Atlanta area. A location opened in Peachtree City earlier this year.

McKerrow says the Norcross area was chosen because of its explosive growth. #Gwinnett is the fastest-growing county in Georgia, and we#re proud to be a part of it,# he added.

The featured item on the menu is bison burgers (synonymous with buffalo). Much leaner than beef, it is considered a low-fat alternative and has a surprisingly sweet taste. But, that#s not all you can get. Every bison burger option (and there are about 20 varieties with toppings galore) has a beef alternative as well as a grilled #brick# chicken choice #marinated chicken breasts seared on the grill under a glazed brick.

Other menu items include fresh-cut French fries, onion rings, a variety of soups and salads, veggie burgers as well as daily #blue plate specials# including pecan trout, pot roast, meatloaf and more.

And don#t forget the beverages! Lending themselves to the overall atmosphere of the Grill, Cokes (and other soft drinks) are served in the 8 oz. bottles of days gone by. Of course you also have your tea and coffee and such, but there#s just something about those little bottles. There#s also a nice wine list and extensive beer choices.

The menu is rounded out with homemade ice cream, old-fashioned milk shakes and fresh-baked cookies. A kid#s menu also is available.

Decorated with Montana in mind, the restaurant has an outdoorsy theme with scenes from the West. Many images hanging on the walls are copied from artwork in Turner#s personal collection.

Along with Turner#s long list of successes, he also is considered one of the largest ranchers in the U.S. with several bison herds of his own. Turner owns 1.7 million acres of land in Montana and other Western states and supplies the bison meat to his own restaurants.

#I want to introduce all Americans to the Montana I#ve grown to love,# says Turner.

With the hearty meals and western atmosphere, it seems as if #The Ted# has done just that right here in Gwinnett.
