The Atlanta Ice Cream Festival is the first festival of its kind in Atlanta that centers on the metro Atlanta community and their love affair with ice cream. The festival will be held on Saturday, September 10 from 12 – 6 p.m. at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.
Along with multiple ice cream vendors, the festival will host food and beverages and the opportunity to burn off those calories with health and fitness activities. Attendees can sit back and enjoy the sounds of the DJ and the Atlanta School Drummers, cheer along with local cheering squads and step up with State Championship Step Teams. There will also be Community Agencies (both public and private non-profit) to provide health screenings and valuable resource information.
Ice cream is an $11 billion retail industry. America is the ice cream capital of the world, producing over 1.5 billion gallons of ice cream per year. Each American consumes around 22 quarts of ice cream a year. Vanilla is the most popular flavor in this country, snagging anywhere from 20 to 29 percent of sales. Chocolate comes in a distant second, with about 9 to 10 percent of the market.
All proceeds raise at the festival will benefit Lupus Foundation of America – Georgia Chapter “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.”#
