Keep Georgia Safe is proud to sponsor another radKIDS Instructor Certification Training, June 21st-24th, 2010, at Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross. radKIDS is a personal empowerment safety education program for children ages 5-12. Keep Georgia Safe and radKIDS are dedicated to providing proven and effective life saving skills for children by teaching them how to "Resist Aggression Defensively." Since radKIDS inception in 1998, more than 150,000 children have graduated from the program and 3,000 instructors have been certified nationwide. Thus far, more than 60 children have been documented escaping an attempted abduction and well over 1,100 children have reported that they got away from a sexual assault incident. These young heroes have escaped the horrible realities of abduction, bullying, child abuse, sexual assault and manipulation. In all these incidents, the children were able to use their personal abilities, along with the tools they acquired in radKIDS class to escape their attackers and return safely to their loved ones.
In 2003 Ed Smart, father of Elizabeth Smart, joined the Board of Directors and has been instrumental in bringing world-wide attention to the power of this hands-on educational model for children on national news and television programs such as the Oprah Winfrey Show.
The radKIDS Comprehensive Personal Empowerment Safety Education curriculum is based on accelerated learning and realistic physical resistance options to escape violence. Curriculum topics range from Home and School Safety, to Out and About Safety, to Realistic Defense Against Abduction, as well as Good, Bad, and Uncomfortable Touch. Through radKIDS training, children become empowered and learn to replace the fear, confusion, and panic of dangerous situations with confidence, personal safety skills and self-esteem.
