Simpson Elementary School recently had a special guest as Lance Corporal James Lane, an active duty U.S. Marine, visited Liz Johnson’s 3rd grade class. He came to thank the students for writing letters to him and his unit while they were on active duty overseas. After receiving a letter from a student in the class that thanked him for his service and bravery, LCpl. Lane called the school and asked if he could visit Johnson’s class. During his visit, LCpl Lane answered questions about his deployment and time in the Marines. He brought cookies for the class and donated two hats he wore while on active duty— one went to the student who wrote him and the other was given to the class.
