Spring Events – Racing, Arts, Sports and More!

Spring is just around the corner, and brings with it a myriad of events, festivals and activities. Tie on your wind-breaker, get out your walking shoes and mark your calendars for:

 

Tour De Georgia (April 21-27) – One of the nation”s premier cycling events rolls into Gwinnett in April. On Friday, April 25, more than 120 riders from all over the world will kick off Stage Start Five of the Tour de Georgia at Suwanee”s Town Center Park. The rolling start will begin at 10 a.m., and the riders will forge 133 miles to Dahlonega. Race watchers can line up in downtown Suwanee, and the route will also race down Buford Highway, McGinnis Ferry Road and the Chattahoochee River. Pre-race festivities and a family-oriented health fair are also on tap for race day. Visit www.tourdegeorgia.com

 

Barefoot in the Park Arts Festival (April 19-20) – The beautiful Duluth Town Green will once again play host to this juried art festival, one of North Atlanta”s top festivals for serious art buyers. More than 75 artists are expected, plus a full day of grassroots music, dance and theater performances. The Legacy Academy Children”s Art Park will feature free, hands-on children”s activities throughout the weekend for kids of all ages. Visit www.barefootinthepark.org

 

Gwinnett Restaurant Week (May 19-22) – Back by popular demand, the third annual Gwinnett Restaurant Week will let diners choose from one of 13 top restaurants, all of which create a special, three-course $18.18 meal (plus tax/gratuity). Gwinnett Bike Fest (July 24-27) – If you wondered what all the whirring spandex was throughout Gwinnett last July, here”s your answer. This four-day criterium race, created and hosted by the Gwinnett Sports Commission, will blaze back into town with more than 150 racers from across the world. Venues include Road Atlanta, the Gwinnett Progress Center and the Alcovy Road area. Volunteers are needed. Visit www.gcvb.org/bikefest
