Are you ready to start a home-based business?
Starting a home-based business is hard work and not everyone is ready to weather the challenges that can come with being your own boss. Here are few things to consider about how well you are suited to creating and nurturing a home business:
” Can you stay motivated? – Nobody will be around to crack the whip when you work at home so you will have to motivate yourself. It can be difficult to focus on work when you're surrounded by distractions at home.
” Are you financially stable? – Sometimes customers are slow to pay their bills and you have to weather the wait. And usually, money can be scarce in the early months (or even years) while you grow your businesses. Can you handle a possible short-term lack of cash?
” Are you self-confident? – Customers may be rude and suppliers can be short with you. Family and friends may think you”re foolish or crazy for starting your own business. Do you believe in yourself enough to take criticism and ignore doubts?
” Can you plan? – You can seek out advice on how to write a businesses plan, but do you know how to manage your time effectively each day? Can you organize a schedule and work efficiently?
” Can you make tough decisions? – When you are your own boss, your business”s success or failure depends entirely on the decisions you make. You have to be able to make a good decision in the shortest amount of time possible. If you don”t act fast, you may miss a business opportunity.
” Do you have experience? – You don”t have to know everything there is to know about running a business right out of the gate, but you do need a few basic skills. You can outsource certain tasks, but you can”t open an accounting business if you”re not a good bookkeeper.
