Sugar Hill Bath Business Celebrates 25 years

bath-photoAt 25 years old, Sugar Hill-based MTI Baths is really coming into its own. The business that entrepreneur J.C. Henry started in 1988 as “Mr. Tubs” has grown into a 130-employee, $20 million operation, and is experiencing its most profitable year ever.

The employee-owned company has gained national recognition for its innovation, award-winning designs and passion for customer care.

According to a news release from MTI, when Henry first began his business, he started out buying tubs from other manufacturers and plumbing them with whirlpool systems. Shortly thereafter, he purchased a defunct bathtub manufacturing facility and began producing his own tubs. Within a few years, business was booming with creation of a “higher quality acrylic tub than the majority of the industry.”

According to MTI, the company”s success can be attributed to its degree of customization and customer service. “Each product is built to order, providing the customer with unparalleled attention and a truly personalized product.”

Bath models manufactured by the local company include include soakers, air baths, whirlpool or a combination whilpool/air bath, manufactured by Lucite cross-linked cast acrylic with a wide variety of styles and options.
