Sugarloaf Ballet is kicking off the holiday season with their annual production of Nativity Ballet. On Thursday, December 6 and Friday, December 7 at 7 p.m., Sugarloaf Ballet will share the birth of Christ through movement at Tabernacle International Church in Lawrenceville. This performance is free and open to the public as part of Sugarloaf Ballet”s secondary mission to enrich the Sugarloaf and surrounding metropolitan Atlanta communities through the instruction and performance of ballet and other dance genres.

Nativity Ballet started as a fifteen-minute excerpt presented before the curtain of Sugarloaf Ballet”s previous winter show, The Little Match Girl. Since 2006, Nativity Ballet has been transformed into a full-length production featuring more than 40 dancers. As the second show in Sugarloaf Ballet”s annual season line up, Nativity Ballet is cast and staged in approximately eight weeks. Tabernacle International Church has graciously come along side Sugarloaf Ballet and provided the use of their beautiful sanctuary for the production.

Sugarloaf Ballet”s Nativity Ballet highlights the familiarity of events such as the angel”s visit to Mary and the arrival of the wise men after Jesus” birth. In addition to the use of classical ballet technique, the choreography includes sections of contemporary ballet and modern influenced movement. Artistic Director, Lori Zamzow-Wire, and Company Director, Michelle Bourgeois, have also captured the excitement of the season with the use of holiday music favorites including The Little Drummer Boy, Silent Night, Angels We Have Heard on High and Away in a Manager. This year”s Nativity Ballet includes four new pieces for audience enjoyment!

Nativity Ballet is a family-friendly show set to captivate audience members of all ages. Sugarloaf Ballet desires to become a part of family and community holiday traditions with this annual demonstration.

Sugarloaf Ballet is a nonprofit organization committed to fostering excellence in the instruction, creation, performance and research of ballet.
