The Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center is full of educational opportunities for everyone. The Center”s mission is to transform the concepts of science and history into interactive, learn-by-doing experiences that will encourage a visitor”s natural curiosity and sense of wonder about themselves and the world around them. The Center and its staff accomplish this every day through the vast educational opportunities available at the Center! Educational opportunities abound for families, schools, and other organizations. The best part is that the education and learning is combined with so much fun that children don”t realize that they are learning while they are outside in nature or interacting with exhibits inside!

K-12 Field Study Programs
Students of all ages come to the Center to experience learning outside the classroom. By exposing children to nature and alternative learning surroundings, we can enable them to see and experience concepts in different ways.

Programs are available for daycares, public schools, private schools and homeschool. From hikes to outdoor classrooms to experiments in our state-of-the-art lab, all experiences at the Center are unique and matched to the AKS/GPS standards set by Gwinnett County Public Schools and the state of Georgia.

Exhibits and Programming
A field study experience or family visit at the Center involves hands on experiences with permanent and changing exhibits. The Center”s permanent exhibits allow visitors to explore water”its history, properties, functions, and how it can be used. Visitors can even view a unique film on a waterfall screen. Travelling exhibits focus on such diverse topics as nature, history, and culture. There are programs at the Center focused on our exhibits as well as programs including trail hikes, walks, special events, camps, scout activities, and much more! The opportunities at the Center are always changing and growing.# In fact, soon you will be able to join us in the trees for adventure, learning, and fun! Gwinnett”s first Eco-Friendly Canopy Adventure Exhibit is opening in late summer of 2011! There is always a way to learn something new and different at the GEHC!!

History & Culture
The Center is charged with preserving Gwinnett”s rich heritage and provides numerous heritage programming opportunities at its main campus as well as heritage assets across the county. With these historic sites, the Center has created history and culture programming that teaches visitors about what life was like in the past. By tying in places that still exist today, children and adults can appreciate where we came from and how far we”ve advanced!

Nature, fun, and learning abound at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center! Come see what we are all about! For more information about programs and opportunities, please visit our website at www.gwinnettEHC.org or call us at 770.904.3500!
