The Heart Center of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Welcomes New Cardiologist

Georgia’s #1 Heart Hospital has a new cardiologist.  Ankit A. Patel, MD, FACC, FSCAI, joined The Heart Center of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) yesterday and is accepting new patients at the practice’s Braselton and Commerce locations.

“I am pleased to be part of this team of physicians and medical staff who have clearly earned the respect and trust of both patients and peers in the healthcare community,” said Dr. Patel. “As a cardiologist with The Heart Center of NGMC, I look forward to continuing to provide patients in Northeast Georgia the award-winning heart health services my colleagues at NGMC have been providing for years.”

Dr. Patel received his medical degree from Government Medical College in Surat, India. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga., and a series of fellowships in Cardiac Imaging, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Dr. Patel is board-certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. He holds a variety of other medical certifications and licenses and also served as co-investigator and coordinating fellow for clinical trials studying several new medications. He started the Pacemaker Program at Cartersville Medical Center in Cartersville, Ga., and has served on a myriad of committees at medical centers in both leadership and membership positions. Dr. Patel speaks three languages and enjoys playing cards, tennis, cricket, soccer and other sports.
