The Hudgens Center is a lively, local art center offering year round fine art classes for adults and children, summer art camps for children, one- and two-day art workshops and community outreach programs.
The Hudgens also showcases a range of artwork in its galleries throughout the year, averaging four to five main exhibits each year, highlighting a wide variety of media, from paintings, drawings and prints to pottery and sculpture, most of which include complementary exhibits featuring local or community artwork or an educational component.# In addition, The Hudgens offers facility rentals for special events and children”s birthday parties.
Art classes focus on such diverse subjects as pottery, painting, drawing, glass, photography, Photoshop and jewelry-making.# The summer art camps include drawing, painting, mixed media and ceramics in their activities and enjoy access to the current exhibits and sculpture garden. Workshops focus on many different topics, including soap and lotions making, precious metal clay, polymer clay, creative drawing, glass, jewelry and painting.
The Hudgens also features a lovely gift shop filled with paintings, pottery, prints, glass art, jewelry, art supplies, books and other fun gift items; an interactive children”s Art Zone with make & take art stations, musical stations, a giant kaleidoscope, a puppet theatre and a well-stocked reading nook; and the award-winning Al Weeks Sculpture Garden, recently designated an Audubon Society Wildlife Refuge.
Whether visiting The Hudgens for an exhibit, a summer camp, a workshop or an 8-week fine arts course, there is something there for everyone in the community to enjoy!
