Continue the tradition this holiday season with Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation (GCPR) and the Lawrenceville Tourism and Trade Association as they host the 25th Annual Lighting of the Tree on Thanksgiving Day, November 22 at 5 p.m. with tree lighting ceremony beginning at 6 p.m. at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in downtown Lawrenceville.

This year marks the Silver Anniversary of the Lighting of the Tree festival, held at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in downtown Lawrenceville. This year marks another milestone, as GCPR celebrates 25 years as a countywide park system. The evening”s festivities will include Class Act Band who will lead everyone in singing carols, choreographed dance routines by Clogging Connection, music by Catherine Kimbro, face painting, crafts and Whoville Hair for kids. If you didn”t get enough turkey and stuffing, food vendors will offer sweet treats and warm beverages.

The events kick off at 5 p.m. as guests will gather on the grounds anxiously awaiting the flick of the switch to illuminate 30,000 lights adorning the 30-foot Norway spruce. Santa Claus will arrive in style, escorted by an entourage of entertaining individuals. Uniquely decorated trees in Santa”s Magical Forest will lead the way to Santa”s sleigh, on loan from the North Pole, where parents can take photos of their little ones with Santa. Make plans to attend the 25th Lighting of the Tree festival with your family Thanksgiving night, either continuing a tradition or starting a new one!
