Cooler temperatures and fall is in the air, meaning great colors coming to the mountains of the Tennessee Valley.

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum has many fall and winter excursions planned for families that would like to have a wonderful experience in the great outdoors.

Hiwassee River Rail Adventure
This 3 1/2 hour trip leaving out of Etowah, Tennessee takes riders on a fall color experience unlike any other. Winding its way through the Cherokee National Forest and into the Hiwassee River Gorge, passengers experience a flurry of color and beauty on a relaxing ride on the rails.# Tickets are $37 for adults and $27 for children. Hiwassee River Rail Loop excursions run on select dates from Oct. 15- Nov. 26.# This is a must for fall color enthusiasts.

Summerville Steam Excursions
Enjoy an authentic steam locomotive ride as you and your family are on a wonderful daylong adventure to Summerville, Georgia. Leaving from the Grand Depot in Chattanooga, this trip includes unparalleled scenic beauty that you will never forget.# The 100-mile roundtrip excursion is only $70 per person and runs on Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29 and Nov. 5. Seating is limited for this trip so please book early.
