Some of the names of the 26 ingredients are more than a mouthful. They sound clinical and vaguely off-putting, but what are they and why do we put them in there to begin with?
It turns out that most of them are essentially enriching vitamins and minerals that help fill in the blanks for diets that are not incorporating enough fruits and vegetables. And then there are a few that attempt to mask the taste of the added vitamins, but this is not without some controversy.
Ideally, we would get all of our recommended daily intake of nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables, but that”s not happening in practice. Check out this video from NPR.
