Pat Freeman rounds out executive team as the company continues to evolve under new leadership.
Wheeler/Brand, one of the Southeast’s most experienced and respected full-service commercial real estate firms, announced that Patrick M. Freeman, CPM®, CCIM, RPA, SMA, LEED AP and BOMA Fellow has joined the executive team to oversee property management. Well known in Atlanta’s property management industry, Freeman comes to Wheeler/Brand after nine years with Columbia Property Trust/Wells Real Estate Funds where he managed 11,000,000 square feet of Class A office space and 37 assets in Atlanta and ten other markets throughout the U.S.
“Pat is a gifted mentor who will help us grow our management practices for our clients,” said M. Scott Meadows, CCIM, CPM®, RPA and President of Wheeler/Brand. “In addition to managing a sizable portfolio, his caliber of experience in property management is unmatched in this market.”
Freeman and Meadows, who was recruited by Brand Morgan to take over Wheeler/Brand in January 2014, worked together previously at Wells Real Estate Funds. This made the decision to join Wheeler/Brand an easy one, according to Freeman. “Scott is a man of great integrity, and I am extremely happy to be working with him again,” he said. “Combined with the rest of the new leadership team, this makes for the perfect opportunity to be a part of something that is being reinvented.”
As Executive Vice President, Property Management, Freeman joins Meadows and Kelly Wallo, Chief Financial Officer; Rebecca Waters, CLS, CSM, CPM, Executive Vice President, Leasing; and will replace Lois Mittiga upon her 2016 retirement.
Freeman will manage and develop the property management team that is responsible for more than 75 assets throughout the Southeast. “Pat’s proactive and collaborative approach ensures the value of each property is maximized through efficient operations, fiscal stewardship and tenant retention. As a people-oriented solutions-provider, he effectively teams with a wide array of people and disciplines—fostering relationships with vendors, owners and tenants alike,” said Meadows.
Named one of its inaugural ten “Fellows,” Freeman is a longtime member of BOMA – the Building Owners and Managers Association. Additionally, he is a Certified Property Manager; a Certified Commercial Investment Member; Real Property Administrator; Systems Maintenance Administrator; and an Accredited Professional in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Freeman said he is excited about the opportunity to work with the leadership team to double Wheeler/Brand’s portfolio. “We have an incredible opportunity to garner significant expansion by meeting the needs of our existing clients while identifying avenues to introduce our platform to others,” he said. “I’m pleased to have established a positive reputation among my peers as someone who is helpful and supportive of both the industry and the industry’s growth. I look forward to leveraging that strength to help grow Wheeler/Brand.”
