The Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce offers two unique opportunities for businesspeople and community stakeholders to expand their knowledge base through the region”s most innovative and out-of-the-box educational experience. The classroom and subject: Gwinnett County – her economy, resources, challenges and limitless potential. The source for this knowledge and wisdom: Leadership Gwinnett and Senior Leadership Gwinnett.
In addition to the Chamber”s traditional initiatives that grow business success and bring thousands of jobs into Gwinnett, our Leadership Gwinnett and Senior Leadership Gwinnett programs provide forums for existing and emerging leaders to become proactive, knowledgeable and experience the vast potential that is Gwinnett County. Each of the seven one-day sessions and two retreats (Leadership Gwinnett only) offer professional development that cannot be found anywhere. By connecting real-life experiences with interactive class discussions, participants become intimately familiar with public policy, social issues and business trends. What looks easy from the outside, quickly becomes reality as classmates must debate and approve a county budget, spend the day traveling Gwinnett”s streets with a law enforcement professional or stand in the shoes of a local healthcare provider.
Drawn from a range of occupations, including business, the professions, government and non-profit organizations, these groups of stakeholders emerge upon graduation with the skills and contacts to turn commitment into action. Since the organizations” inception, 627 Leadership Gwinnett alumni and 127 Senior Leadership Gwinnett alumni have graduated and assumed positions of responsibility and prominence.
Our graduates sit on the boards of numerous local organizations, more than 30 hold elected office and many more serve on various school, city and other appointed boards. It is these leadership graduates that have had more of a positive impact on the life of Gwinnett County than any other single group. These two programs turn interest into awareness, dreamers into doers and provide a pool of informed individuals who can take a proactive role in defining Gwinnett”s future.
If you have the desire to grow as a leader and take your newfound knowledge and put it to use for the betterment of your business and community, nominations for the 2005-2006 Leadership Gwinnett Class and 2005-2006 Senior Leadership Gwinnett Class (participants aged 55 and older) will be accepted through February 28.
