Heroes Project Update: Barbara Howard
Barbara Howard”s contributions to Gwinnett are grand. She and her late husband, Henry, are founders of the frozen meat and poultry processor, Suzanna”s Kitchen, which just celebrated 50 years in business. Barbara still runs the company”s day-to-day operations.
This Gwinnett entrepreneur and 2007 Hero is a very busy lady and loves it! She has been involved with the American Cancer Society since 1974, and she and Henry are two of the nine founders of the Gwinnett unit. “I firmly believe that an active mind and body are important to anyone”s health,” said Barbara. “A positive attitude and outlook are the most important.”
This positive attitude has helped her overcome obstacles in her own life, both she and Henry were diagnosed with cancer in the early 2000″s – her colon cancer, him bladder cancer. Unfortunately, Barbara lost Henry to his battle with cancer in 2004. Today, Barbara remains in remission with no need for further treatments or annual checkups. “A good report from my oncologist# – Tony Landis – is a triumph,” she recalls.
