Future Biz Leaders Growing at Collins Hill

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is an organization that strives to provide high school students with the tools necessary to be successful in the workplace. Collins Hill High School’s FBLA chapter invests in its members and works to create opportunities for academic and professional growth.

The club’s advisors, Karen Curtis and Cara Norton, have over 10 years of experience and serve as excellent mentors to students looking for guidance. One of the ways that students are encouraged to hone their business skills is by competing in one of the many events available to FBLA members from all over the country. This summer, Collins Hill’s chapter sent five competitors to the National Leadership Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, where four of the students received top 10 recognition. With membership levels rising, Collins Hill’s FBLA hopes to have even more competitors next summer.

For students hoping to gain professional skills locally, FBLA offers the opportunity for its members to volunteer in the school coffee shop. In the mornings, FBLA members operate the shop, selling coffee, hot chocolate and assorted breakfast items to the student body. The funds earned through the coffee shop are used to create even more opportunities for members by lowering the cost of events. Working in the coffee shop allows students to learn and obtain experience with finance and customer service.

CHHS FBLA is an organization comprised of motivated, well-rounded individuals. Together, they work hard to instill the FBLA principles of service, progress, and education in those around them.
